The shape of things to come
Keeping my concept to the forefront of mind, I can now start to construct the armature which supports the clay while it is being worked on. I use stainless steel piping with a variety of elbow joints turned at varying degrees to get the desired shape. If I’m sculpting a life size portrait, I use a full face photo, which I’ve blown up to the correct size and take rough dimensions from there. Then the clay can start to be built up onto the armature.
